Reed City Housing Commission is a public housing agency that helps provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. In 1966 local officials signed a Cooperation Agreement with HUD to provide decent, safe, affordable housing for eligible individuals in the community. Phase I of Meadowview Village was build and available to the public in 1968 which consisted of 45 senior, handicap, or disabled units and 15 family units. Phase II was completed in 1982 and offered an additional 23 senior, handicap, or disabled units and 18 family units. Apartments range from 1-4 bedrooms.
The Reed City Housing Commission also administers 90 Housing Choice Vouchers which assist residents within a 30 mile radius, with their rental payments. We are a smoke free facility as of January 1, 2012.
Our Mission is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free from discrimination. We serve a diverse population with special needs, health issues and financial difficulties with respect to their individuality. We accomplish this through federal funding and regulations which promote our goals.
